Stemtree San Mateo is the local center of the Stemtree STEM education franchise, on 42nd Avenue, serving students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Its camps are not run as a traditional classroom: every student gets one-on-one instruction, takes an assessment in each subject at the start, and follows a customized learning plan that carries over from one camp week to the next. Camp activities are hands-on science, coding, robotics, and electricity and electronics, with mathematics available as an add-on during select camps. The same center also runs year-round STEM tutoring and enrichment.

My 8.5 yr old daughter and 14.5 yr old son loves it here! They are inclusive of LGBTQ+ kids. Brandon from what they told me was a HS teacher and it really shows because he created quality, engaging, educational activities that they love. We like that they have friendly staff, easy to park, flexibility and high quality educational games. I'm pretty picky about what activities my kids can do and as a prior teacher, I was impressed!

My 11-year-old daughter had an amazing experience at Stemtree of San Mateo, and I couldn't be more impressed! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. Brandon was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, and Shegufa was warm, inviting, and instantly put my daughter at ease. Before getting started, my daughter filled out an assessment so the team could understand her learning level — a small but thoughtful touch that shows they truly personalize the experience. From there, she was hooked! She typed her name on the computer and watched it come to life in an animation, did a hands-on experiment with ink to learn how watersheds work and why protecting them from pollution matters, and then built a paper rocket with a straw and launched it across the room. Real science, real fun. As a parent observing from the sidelines, I noticed how clean and spacious the center is, how friendly and attentive the staff are, and how easy it was to find parking right nearby. Stemtree San Mateo is the real deal — a place where kids genuinely learn while having a blast. Highly recommend for any parent looking for quality STEM enrichment!
