TDS - The Dance Studio

My daughter has been dancing at TDS since she was 3 years old. We actually drive 30 minutes (each way) for my daughter to dance at TDS. Are their other studios closer? Sure, but none as welcoming as TDS when we were first looking for a studio. My daughter has loved all of her teachers and her classmates and has grown so much as a dancer over the last 8 seasons. Jenny Dunn and the entire staff at TDS - The Dance Studio have instilled confidence and a love of dance in my daughter and we cannot recommend TDS enough to anybody looking for a dance studio for their child.

We have been with TDS for 9 years now. And I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I have 2 kids on the competition team and one in the recreational classes. Jenny is a no nonsense type of person but is understanding and easy to work with when life happens. She fosters respect and understanding at the studio accepting kids where they are and making them feel empowered to do what they love. A few years ago my eldest daughter had a surprising medical diagnosis happen that hindered a lot of her day to day life, including dance. But instead of benching my child she worked with us to find a balance that allowed her to still dance competitively but also put her health first. Even now she is one of the few people my daughter will open up to when her condition causes an issue. Last year she sustained a back injury outside of dance and again, Jenny worked with her to keep her dancing without causing anymore strain on her back as it healed. She is 13 now and couldn't imagine doing anything other than dance and wouldn't want to do it anywhere else. My second daughter has just blossomed at the studio. She has embraced everything thrown at her and Jenny has been understanding that even though she is on the competition team she is still a child, she turns 9 this year. She absolutely loves the friends and environment at the studio. And she loves Mrs. Jenny, she is her favorite. She has encouraged her every year to try new things and has worked with her to foster her confidence as well as worked with her on her focus and hyperness so that it works for her. My youngest is 5 and in the recreational classes. He has severe ADHD and Jenny, as well as his main teachers, understands that there are things he can't control yet and make sure he is still included and safe even when he gets too worked up. They are great at getting him to breathe, refocus, and calm down a bit. All in all im so glad we stumbled on to TDS 9 years ago at the start of this journey. The studio truly is a.second home to my kids. And the teachers celebrate every milestone they achieve, inside the studio and out. They push them to keep getting better. I would and do recommend TDS to anyone who asks or is looking for a studio for their littles who love to dance.

When my oldest daughter wanted to continue dance, her dad and I were concerned with the dignity and respect that the her current studio offered (or lack of). We went on a search and found TDS! This was one of the best choices we could have made. My oldest daughter was preparing to transition to a preteen and was self conscious about her body, dance moves, and her costume. We never once had to worry about this with TDS. Jenny always covered her up and chose choreography/music that was appropriate for her age. My youngest daughter is still dedicated to dance, but now involved in competition. This is where she belongs! I have 9 years of experience with TDS -The Dance Studio as a dance mom and have not been let down one time. The studio has dealt with challenging events, but has always thought of their dancers and families first. When Covid interfered with our dance season, my daughter was offered virtual classes. When in class practices started back up, masks were worn and plenty of handwashing/sanitizer was utilized. When recital time came, they were split into 2 sessions to abide the state law of distancing. This also allowed for parents to feel comfortable with their seating and in person performance. For a few years, TDS had 2 dance studios, the amount of dancers was so large that Jenny made it easy for parents. She split the recitals into 2 sessions, allowing the Auburn Studio to perform at 1 time, and the Garrett Studio to perform a different time. This made it easier because my daughter's supporting family and friends only had to purchase 1 ticket to a show rather than 2 tickets to watch dancers they did not know. As I previously mentioned, my youngest is now in competition. When I was approached about competition, I was afraid. How expensive is this going to be? How many days a week will my daughter be at the studio? These were only a couple of my questions. I can't express how happy I have been with allowing my daughter the right to participate in competition. Her costumes have been within a feasible price range. Classes are arranged so that my daughter only spends a couple of hours at dance 1-2 nights a week. Traveling to competitions is always within a close proximity with parent's having the choice where to lodge, if necessary. If there is ever an issue with timing of performances, Jenny will work with us parents. One of the best things about TDS...Jenny has helped me with reinforcing positive and respectable behavior for my daughter. When I brought a personal issue to Jenny's attention, Jenny was supportive of a parenting decision I had made. She worked with me to allow my daughter to attend class, while encouraging the behavior her father and I were expecting for her. In the dance world, any time spent away from dancing at the studio, is a big no-no... but not with Jenny. She is out here raising strong, confident, and respectable humans. If you have gotten this far through my review, you'll already see why you need to be a part of the TDS family!

My daughter has dance with TDS. This is her fourth year. Miss Jenny has been great about it allowing her to expand and grow each year. I’m so excited to see the energy that TDS has. The parents are great they all support each other. When we started the competition dance I was worried about how the parents would be. And we all support each other it’s so cool to see. My girlfriend who I have been dating for 2 years starting dancing for Jenny last year and before she had a lot of complaints about her other dance studios. With TDS she came home happy and no complaints and had the best time learning and getting better and more competitive with Jenny. The sisterhood I seen from her and her teammates along with Jenny leading an excellent studio I would recommend them for your families if you are looking for a new studio. After her senior year and she was done Jenny took that time to ask if she would like to come back and teach the following year which goes to show how much she truly cares about her students.
