Summit Dance Co is a sister-owned dance and performing arts studio in Redmond Ridge, founded in 2016, that runs week-long themed summer camps ending in a show for families. All-day camps for ages 5-12 run 9:30am-3:30pm and half-day camps for potty-trained ages 2.5-6 run 9:30am-12:30pm, each mixing dancing with games and crafts. Triple Threat camps (ages 7-12, and a two-week High School Musical JR production for ages 10-18) build a full show with set, costumes and singing, and technique intensives serve dancers ages 9-18. The studio does not compete and offers extended early-morning and late-afternoon care for a fee.

I am writing this review 8 years after leaving Summit Dance Co's competition team. I didn’t write this earlier because I was a child and wasn't able to fully understand my experiences at the time. I am ready to reflect on them now. In my experience, this studio created an environment that was extremely stressful and emotionally distressing for me as a dancer. Many of us had been taking classes from the instructors for over a decade and looked up to them, which made this all difficult to process as children. I felt as though I constantly needed to impress them and would have been willing to do whatever they told us to do. A specific incident that stands out above the rest involved a meeting with the studio owners, us (the dancers), and our parents. We were asked to come in on a Saturday without knowing what it was about. During the meeting, the parents and students were separated. The instructors raised their voices and criticized us in a way that felt very harsh and inappropriate to me and my mother. Many of us—including myself—felt extremely distressed afterward and were brought to tears. I remember being 12 at the time and feeling like a failure. After this period (and other experiences not unlike the above), several students, including myself, decided to leave the studio. Many families were frustrated with their experience, as they had invested their time and money into this studio from its inception. Even after moving to a different studio, I found it personally impossible to fully regain my confidence and love for dance. I am sharing this to help others who are considering Summit Dance Co. understand my personal experience. Others may have different experiences, but this was mine, and I encourage you to read all of the reviews for this business to get a full picture.

The women who own and run this studio really have created a very special place. Can’t say enough good things about it! The warmth you feel from the staff here - who seem genuinely happy - is unlike almost any other business I’ve interacted with. My girls age 6 and 4 have loved going to classes here. When I made a mistake with scheduling they fixed it so fast, no fuss at all, and were so flexible about it. I just love this place. Like any dance studio lots of girls but boys have a blast there too especially in the Hip Hop classes, plenty of boys! My little guy who is too young so far will come here one day too.

Our daughter joined Summit the year they opened. I think 2016. She’s had several of the teachers and truly enjoys dancing with Summit. I’ve watched my daughter progress in her ability and maintain her joy in dance. She has participated on team since fall 2019. With a full slate of competitions and conventions this year; I’m thrilled to see all those dancers having fun together as a team. Aside from team, her favorite is triple threat (sing, dance, act). It’s fun watching all dancers of multiple ages work together and support each other.

My daughter has been dancing at Summit Dance Co since they opened their doors 6 years ago. She thoroughly loves every minute she spends in the studio. This family owned business leads with compassion and watches out for what is best for their students and the community. We put our trust in them on a nearly daily basis and they have never let us down.

We love Summit Dance studio. My daughter has danced here for three years and also attended the preschool for two years. Staff, teachers, and dance instructors are wonderful. They are warm, engaging, constructive and professional. We can’t say enough about this incredible dance studio and feel so lucky they are close enough that our daughter can participate in their classes.
