After watching several Streetside Performances, our then 5th grade daughter decided to take some classes at the studio. She was immediately accepted in one of the most supportive and talented communities in Boulder. She is now in her 3rd year of troupe and her level of confidence (and dance ability) has skyrocketed. It's beautiful to see. Rico, the founder, is an upbeat, modest, and uber talented dancer who has danced with Micheal Jackson, among other greats, and his beginner class will have you feeling so good you won't want to leave. I, too, have felt the inclusiveness of this dance community and now take classes several times a week- be warned it's addictive! The teachers are upbeat, creative in their choreo, and encouraging whether you've been dancing for years or simply starting out. When I think of Streetside, the authenticity and diversity of the staff and community, the positives it has brought to my family and the joy of learning how to hip hop at 50 I instantly feel happy and warm inside. Did I mention, Rico is also the founder of the Vertile Foundation which supports orphaned children in Haiti? I would encourage anyone to drop in for a class- it's that good!
I love Streetside! Every class I have taken there has been fun and all of the instructors are cool, NICE, and amazing dancers. Oh and they always play good music! Rico’s hip hop classes especially are high energy and so much fun. You will leave each class happier and a better dancer than you were before.
Streetside Studios has all of the things you'd expect at a great dance studio: professional dancers who have developed polished unique styles and skills in teaching and an abundance of classes to choose from for all ages (I love the Hip Hop and House classes, but there are Breakin, Jazz, Modern, Ballet and African classes too). But what really makes Streetside Studios really special is the inclusive community of staff and dancers that welcome and encourage everyone to develop their own movement in fun ways. There is also an indescribable, bright spark of creativity running through all of the choreography taught by the instructors making the expression of it as a dancer pure satisfying joy, such that any bad day gets immediately turned around by coming to "doing you through dance" at Streetside. I came to dance as an adult and have been going to the studio since it opened over roughly a decade ago. I am so lucky to be a part of the community that has grown there. I owe so much to Rico for allowing me to grow and deeply connect with and through movement in the space that he has so positively and lovingly created.
I love Streetside! I've been going for a few months now, and I love the vibe there. So easy for adults to drop in and try a class (I've brought a bunch of my friends already), and the staff and instructors are really great. I've also been to a couple of their company performances, and the performers are talented, with great choreography and music. I highly recommend this studio.
