Visited with my son and the pool is a nightmare. They seem to be like the soup nazi but for the slide. No slide for you! A weird vibe from the beginning when we walked out to the pool. The staff seemed like they hate their jobs. My son dod the slide then a new lifeguard came and said he had to take a swim test to do the slide. Tread water for a minute then swim a lap to the end of the pool and climb out. My son passed the swim test and was put into their system and given a green wristband. Went back to the slide for a while and another lifeguard said he was too short. No kids were on the slide I guess because lol no slide for you! So we shall not be returning here.

I highly recommend the South Tampa YMCA because it offers so much value for the membership price. The facility is clean, well maintained, and has something for almost everyone. I especially like the swimming pool, large weight room, variety of cardio equipment like treadmills and stair steppers, basketball gymnasium, and the many fitness classes available throughout the week. They also offer childcare/daycare services and other community programs, which makes it great for families. The staff and atmosphere are welcoming, and overall it feels like a place focused on health, wellness, and community. For the cost of membership, the amount of amenities and programs offered is excellent.

The facilities are not terrible and the front desk is great. We love pickleball and were excited to be able to play at the South Tampa YMCA. We came last Sunday to play pickleball with our adult daughter. We did not feel welcome. I decided to give it a second chance today thinking maybe it would be better. I was wrong. Unfortunately, despite a couple of individuals, the pickleball crowd is overwhelmingly snooty; as another person described. Most pickleball communities are very welcoming, the South Tampa YMCA is NOT.

We visited while out of town (with our nationwide family membership) for a few hours. The outdoor pools were very nice and locker rooms outside were super convenient! The front desk employee was very friendly in getting us checked in. There was also a small playground in the shade too! Would definitely stop by again while in town.

I love this place! My second child is learning to swim and absolutely loves it. The coach is really great, too. It’s the second closest location to our home, but I prefer this one, so we always come here. The parking lot is spacious, and the location is very convenient.
