The South End Community Center runs an eight-week Summer Activities Program for children ages 5-12, starting right after the Springfield elementary school year ends and built each year around a theme. Days combine a literacy-focused daily curriculum — with pre- and post-testing to counter summer learning loss — with activities covering nature, performing arts, fitness, nutrition and the history of Springfield, plus weekly field trips. Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are provided at no extra charge to families, and the program closes with awards and a performance for parents. SECC is a nonprofit community center at 99 Marble Street with a gymnasium, classrooms and an exercise room; a completed enrollment application is required for all programs.

Like that the staff is mostly made of teens but the female director is soooo rude I would suggest you speak to the men she is not at all communicative and just aims to be heard. She told me my daughter was not a victim after she got karate chopped in the throat. I had to speak to her boss about her insensitive and Karen like remark. He was helpful. However that experience left a distaste feeling about my children returning.
