Smithfield Little Theatre is a community theater in downtown Smithfield that runs a Summer Youth Project each year, casting young performers in two musicals staged in July and August - Matilda Jr. and Disney's Descendants in 2026. Participation is by audition rather than open camp enrollment, and the theater also offers a scholarship for students.

Powered by GoogleAbsolutely wonderful performance. I was NOT expecting it to be this good! You can tell this place just wants to bring theatre to everyone who wants to enjoy. Making great theatre accessible like this is what art is about!
My husband and I enjoy this small theater. The acting is great and the sound is good. The live music today was so excellent that at one time i thought it was a sound track. We left early. We were so disappointed at the foul language and strong sexual innuendos. It ruined the program and atmosphere. I’m hesitant at returning in the future. Praying for you to get back on track. I wouldn’t want our children or anyone else to experience this.
I love the gentleman that usually works the window.... Wish I could remember his name. Always greats me with a smile and a friendly conversation. As for the young lady with the glasses and shoulder length blow out (I only specify that because there is another young lady wearing glasses with curly hair as well that seems polite as I heard her speak with another customer) that took my order today and I was far from impressed. She hacked up a loogie as she opened the window then I assumed swallowed it because she didn't spit it out which I was greatful for yet still disgusted. Super grossed out and honestly wish I hadn't ordered because she obviously didn't want to be there because her attitude as she spoke was just off putting. Short and cold, didn't smile once.... Definitely didn't earn any tip. Haven't had any issues with any other employees. The young lady with the piercings was very polite as she handed me my pizzas and wished me a good night so I left on a better note than I arrived. But maybe work on that with the first girl especially if she's speaking with customers. I'll be back when my guy is working to ensure I get excellent service next time.
We have seen many of the plays here over the years and always were impressed at the professional quality of shows. Recently our teen daughter has started with the acting intensive classes and had a ball. Thank you to all the volunteers and staff who have made this an amazing resource for our community.
I like this little theater. I saw Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express…never read the book or seen the movie but I liked it. I think the only downfall is how close an event venue is to the theater. There must have been a wedding on the night I went so you could hear the bass of the music infiltrating the theater. I could still hear the actors though therefore I still give them 5 stars. I wonder who built at the location first…I bet it was the theater😉😊. I don’t really know, just guessing.
