Friendly, equipment always available. Has indoor and outdoor pools, lots of classes and activities.

Aside from how ridiculous it is that you're no longer allowed to do flips off the diving boards (therefore essentially turning them into massive pool area decorations), the least they could do is update their rules sign because nowhere does it currently say that. And while we're at it, don't even get me started on the fact that they close at 5 PM on a WEEKEND. Love the Y, but this location has some work to do.

Great place to workout besides the people who have a membership here as well. Some people here like to try to others what’s right and wrong and what they can and can’t do. Try to avoid them they have no business in our lives.

Although the pool and outdoor water area is fun, the insane amount of rules ruins much of the experience. If you are bringing young children be prepared for every rule under the sun, many that seem to have no purpose. I understand water safety is so important, but many of the rules have nothing to do with it and you are watched like a hawk wherever you go. It’s very strange. Have been to many water parks and water play areas and have never experienced anything like it. WAY over the top!

This YMCA provides a solid fitness and recreation experience, though a few operational hiccups were noticeable during our recent visit. When we arrived, we learned that only the outdoor swimming area was open, which was fine given the weather, but it would’ve been helpful to know in advance—especially for those planning lap swims or bringing younger children. The women’s locker room was spacious and had plenty of changing areas and private showers, which we appreciated. It’s clear that the facility aims to accommodate a range of needs and privacy preferences. However, the swimsuit water extractor in the women’s locker room was out of order, which was a bit of an inconvenience. We had to walk over to the family locker room to use the one there. While it’s not a huge issue, it’s something to be aware of, especially when managing time or children post-swim. On a practical note, the lockers do not accept quarters, which might surprise some first-time visitors. Be sure to bring your own lock or check in advance for locker options. Despite a few minor inconveniences, the Shoreview YMCA remains a functional and family-friendly facility. With its outdoor pool, ample amenities in the locker rooms, and standard YMCA features, it’s a good option for regular workouts or occasional visits—just be prepared for small maintenance or access issues from time to time.
