North Dale Recreation Center is a City of Saint Paul recreation center that runs Rec Check, a free summer and after-school program for youth in grades 1 to 5 who live or attend school in Saint Paul. Summer activities include crafts, cooking, swimming, gym games, sports, nature exploration, field trips, and a daily snack. Enrollment is limited and first-come, first-served.

★★★★Noel VossNorthdale has an outdoor refrigerated rink, another non-refrigerated rink and a rink for other skaters which is nice. The recreation center is usually open until 9 or so as a warming house. They do hold practices on the refrigerated rink in the evenings, so it's not always available to skate on in the evenings. The rinks are lit up at night. It's free and open to the public! Anyone can skate! But it's usually those playing hockey that they ask stay on the two hockey rinks.
★★★Sam HoweNot good for nervous/aggressive dogs/kids. Has only a very small, and inconveniently located rain shelter. Ice rink it's lumpy and poorly lit in the winter. On the bright side the playground is great for kids ( in my opinion ), both little (Preschool and Elementary/Primary students ) and older ( Middle and High Schoolers ). There is a fairly nice baseball and soccer field.
