SG1 Soccer Club

My two youngest daughters finished their first season at SG1. I have been very satisfied with the coaching and with their skill progression. We have been apart of other clubs and I have not seen this improvement or opportunity to move within the club. I also love the location, all three are easy to get to.

Just for fun edit: My son's team in SG1 is I believe 1-10-0 at this point. It's about as bad as it could possibly get, last weekend they went 0-6. Give this a read lol So here's what they did. They did the tryout, my son made the team. Awesome! What did this mean? Stack all of the other kids that probably shouldn't have made it, or were too small, and cherrypick everyone else for the bigger teams. Why? Because not enough people are signing up. Then, put some entry level coaches with this nosebleed team, give them subpar training, offer no coaching assistance, and use this group to fund your better teams. Watch your team get walloped every single game. I mean literally, every single game even small teams with girls (which in fairness, they played how I expect a club team to). So basically, waste your time as you fund their stack. We literally had equivalent training from random volunteer coaches as KYSC. This is abysmal. SG1 is on their way out the door, save your money. I'm so mad about this garbage experience, they have lost every single game by a factor of 2+ goals sometimes not even scoring. It's so obvious what is going on. I wanted to give my son an opportunity to actually grow in a club, and you robbed us thousands of dollars but most importantly my son's motivation.

The club has expanded and things have changed, most coaches brought in 3 years ago that have stayed are top coaches in Houston. The owner of the club has always had a great vision. The DOC however is pretty clueless about how to run a competitive program or instill a development first culture. He would rather keep kids at their age than push them up when the level is there, leaving them to be exploited for development for players around them instead of being developed as well, just for the sake of business and keeping overzealous parents happy… but here’s the kicker… that parent that complained ended up leaving and most of the team because of the DOC.
