Seattle Percussion Works runs week-long percussion day camps in Ballard, with separate sessions by grade band: Sound Explorers (rising K-2), Beat Keepers (rising 3rd-5th), Middle School Percussion (rising 6th-8th), Creative Music band camp (rising 6th-12th) and High School Percussion (rising 9th-12th). Campers play bucket drums, marimbas, orff mallet instruments, hand drums and drumset, make their own instruments, and in the older camps work on rudimental, mallet and orchestral technique. Most sessions run 9am-4pm Monday-Friday with before- and after-camp options available. Enrollment is open to the public and each camp is capped at 10 students.

We are so happy to have found Seattle Percussion Works. My son started going at age 5; almost one year in, he is always excited to go and then to show Mom and me what he learned. His small group class is high-energy and low-pressure. I think the teachers have figured out that the secret is keeping it fun. I would also like to mention that Storm is the kind of person you want to invite to Thanksgiving: he shares the drumsticks!

Seattle Percussion Works - A Total Hit! Our 5 year old has been taking group lessons at Seattle Percussion Works for the past three months and he loves it! Storm, his teacher, is so great: engaging, patient, and incredibly skilled at connecting with the kids. He manages to create a perfect blend of structure and fun, encouraging creativity while building real musical skills. Our kiddo's favorite instrument? The bucket 🤣! Our son is so inspired by his class that he often sets up buckets around the house, in the garage, in the driveway, on the sidewalk, on the balcony... he's ready to perform! If you're looking for a fun, high-energy musical outlet that will drum up excitement every week, our family highly recommends Seattle Percussion Works!

Both of my daughters adore their group classes. I've loved sitting with my two year old in her classes, and seeing how she gets to engage with rhythm, play, and music (there's singing as well as percussion in their class). I see a rare combination in Storm (and teacher Jesslyn as well) of both excellent ability to engage with and teach young children, and deep musical knowledge and skill. My seven year old also loves her classes. I got to sit in on one, and I loved that not only did Storm let her choose a song to play along with, he also then brought out a "rudiment" that was key to playing that particular song (I still remember - it was a single-stroke four), which was a very effective way to engage a seven-year-old in technique. We're looking forward to continuing to learn from Storm and crew for quite a while, and I look forward to finding time to take his adult classes!

We’ve been taking our toddler to Seattle Percussion Works for a couple months and I highly recommend the Tiny Drummers class! The teachers are fantastic, and the class is at the perfect level for 0-2 year olds. They get to practice using different instruments and get some energy out dancing to favorite songs.

Storm is a wonderful instructor. He meets kids where they are and finds creative ways to engage them in the.percussion arts and to incentivize regular practice at home - drumming up excitement, one modern beatnik at a time. His studio has an incredible variety of instruments and a great mixture of individual lesson, group lesson, and camp offerings. Our 10 year old son adores him. He loves being able to play the drum set to his favorite songs, and to digitally engineer custom beats. The culture of the place is relaxed and friendly. Highly recommended!
