I can’t say enough good things about our local . It truly feels like an extension of our family. What stands out the most is how involved and welcoming they are—not just for kids, but for parents too. There’s a genuine sense of community here that’s hard to find. One of the biggest lifesavers for me is their aftercare program. They pick my child up directly from school, which takes so much stress off my plate. Knowing my kid is safe, cared for, and actually enjoying their time after school gives me so much peace of mind. The staff are attentive, kind, and really take the time to get to know each child. My child comes home happy, engaged, and excited to go back—which says everything. They’re not just being “watched,” they’re participating in activities, making friends, and building confidence. If you’re looking for a place that genuinely supports families and creates a positive, nurturing environment for kids, this is it. We feel incredibly lucky to be part of this community.

I felt welcome the first time I walked in the door and met Josh. I was a Y member in Arlington Texas for many years before moving to Arizona, I knew at once I'd found my new Y home.

I attended the Silver Sneakers classes. The instructors and other workers are very knowledgeable and caring. I really enjoy the classes. The classes were very full, and the people are extremely friendly and helpful. The equipment needs updating. There weren't enough chairs for class, so elderly people were carrying the chairs from other places. The woman's chair next to me had uneven legs. One woman used a collapsed exercise ball. The bands were discolored and possibly all the same strength. I used weights brought from the gym by a man who had just finished using them. I do not know how equipment for Silver Sneakers is financed, but it needs to be done. I am willing to help in anyway as this is a great and necessary program.

The music in the gym is played so loud that you can’t hear music or news with your own headphones. Older members don’t need the music so loud and younger members almost always have their own headphones and/or music so it’s hard to understand why it is so loud. Why did they install all new equipment with monitors if you have to blast the sound in your ears to hear it over the gym music? How about no music in the gym 8:00 am to 10:00 am as a compromise?

Night Basketball Practice 745:830pm. The Scottsdale/Paradise Valley Family YMCA on Shea Boulevard offers a welcoming environment with friendly staff and a variety of amenities. It features a fitness center, pool, basketball gym, racquetball courts, and childcare services, making it an excellent choice for families and individuals alike. The facility is well-maintained and provides a range of group fitness classes and community events. While some users note occasional issues with temperature control during summer months, overall, it is a great community-focused space. The staff is supportive, and the atmosphere is conducive to both exercise and socializing. The Scottsdale/Paradise Valley YMCA hosts several special events for the community: Healthy Kids Day: An annual event promoting health and wellness for kids, featuring activities, games, and healthy snacks. Trunk or Treat: A Halloween-themed event where volunteers help set up and manage activities. USA Pickleball Serves Clinic: An introductory pickleball session for local youth to learn the game's fundamentals. Community CPR Awareness and Educational Events: Offering CPR and AED skills training for adults, children, and infants. These events foster community engagement and provide educational opportunities.
