I love this Y! Before I was only a “ snow bird “ for the cold months, but I found so beneficial for my health visiting this branch and decided to continue the membership in our hot summer. Thank you Senior Program Director Kyle Zeigler for your assistance to make the Y’s membership more affordable for the seniors!

I’m not sure who runs this location but I feel like they could do better. Breakdowns of the pool, hot tub, sauna, and video room equipment seem to occur weekly. These are not communicated to patrons. Sometimes they’ll post a sign at the front desk but one must drive there to find out what’s working today and what is not. Most of the treadmills and elliptical machines work, and the free weight and weight machine areas are nice. The people are friendly.

The hot tub is closed again today! 🤬🤬🤬 Both the hot tub and the warm instructional pool were closed for 2 months during November and December 2025, and the hot tub has been closed several times since January 2026! Many members use these 2 pools for rehabilitation and water exercises. They also closed the aquatics area on Good Friday for a "deep cleaning", but the concrete floors are still black. I could bring my pressure washer and get those floors cleaner! Leadership needs to rethink their decisions about the aquatics director. When Ken was the acquatics director the hot tub and instructional pool would be down now and then, but NEVER for two months! Please bring Ken back, he knows every inch of the pool plumbing and pumps and could keep the older equipment repaired and running! I miss the days when this was a CoreSRQ facility run by the community! I don't want to drive all the way down to South Sarasota to use the hot tub there.

Exceptional Fitness and Wellness Facility and Community! I joined recently since the price for adding my husband to the membership was so reasonable AND this is now part of the national Y network. This means that our membership allows us to go to any other Y in the country that belongs to the national network. Since we travel to see family and just for fun, this is a big bonus. I expected to find this a great facility with good classes, but it is so much more. I stopped trying spin classes during covid and hadnt started back up since I couldn’t find one with good ventilation. The classes here have high celings and great air exchange. The classes in the main studio have a ton of room. Since starting up a couple months ago my garmin app tells me that my sleep has improved, “fitness age” has dropped by 6 months, and training level is at a new high - I used to have a hard time getting my heart rate up and sustaining it, but the group support, well designed classes, and outstanding instructors have moved my fitness level way up in a a short time! The gym floor has a great arrangement of free weights, racks, and machines that let me get a wonderful resistance workout. Even at the busiest times I can do everything I need to in a variety of ways! The unexpected bonus: there is a welcoming community here! I enjoy having coffee and visiting with new friends after spin! This is a delightful break in my workout time - inspiration, connection and fun! The conversations range from chickens, to workouts, travel adventures and beyond! I hear that the spaces in this facility were designed to encourage community and friendships. It certainly has paid off! Staff are helpful and welcoming! I hear that Pamela is the heart if this commitment to connection and I see her busy encouraging and helping all of us. I am also enjoying the delicious reward at the end of my workouts- glorious steam room, sauna and pool! I haven’t tried the hot tub yet but I know folks who consider it the highlight of their workout! The locker rooms have plenty of space, love the suit dryer and pristine cleanliness! This facility has bumped my fitness and joy up to a new level!

I’’ve always appreciated the YMCA for being a family-friendly and affordable place to stay active, but I was really disappointed by the condition of the aquatic area during my recent visits. To start, the cleanliness of the pool area is a major concern. The water appeared cloudy, and there was a noticeable chemical odor that didn’t seem normal—almost as if the chlorine levels were either way too high or not being managed properly. The pool tiles had a layer of grime, and I even noticed some mold around the drains and locker room floors, which is unacceptable for a facility that serves so many children and On top of that, the locker rooms and showers were in poor shape—wet floors, clogged drains, and no soap in the dispensers. I understand that staffing and maintenance can be a challenge, but basic hygiene and safety should always be a top priority, especially in shared water facilities. I’ve raised these concerns with staff, but I haven’t seen any improvements. I really hope the YMCA takes this feedback seriously and invests more in keeping the aquatic area clean, safe, and well-supervised.
