Sandy Point Sailing Association has organized junior sailing in Beverly since the mid-20th century, offering a sequence of US Sailing-based courses from beginner through racing. Youth Beginner and Youth Beginner Advanced classes take ages 8–11 (must be 8 by July 1, entering at least 3rd grade, with basic swimming skills) in a deliberately non-racing setting, while Teen Beginner and Teen Beginner Advanced serve teens new to the sport or with only casual family experience. Although sponsored by the Jubilee and Salem Willows yacht clubs, it is a separate organization and no yacht club membership is required; families provide a well-fitting PFD and closed-toe shoes.
