San Marcos Basketball (SMBBALL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth basketball organization in San Marcos serving elementary and middle-school boys (grades 3–8), preparing them for middle-school, high-school and competitive play. It runs summer basketball camps at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels and fields club teams that practice twice weekly (Tuesdays/Thursdays) with weekend games, coached by the local high-school coach.

My son wanted to find a club where he could learn from skilled coaches to improve his own abilities, and compete with other teammates who also wanted to excel, while having fun. He loves it. In addition to coaching the kids in the game, they also teach and expect good sportsmanship (which not all clubs emphasize). Very positive environment that brings out the best in my son. In addition, they offer camps during school breaks for continued competitive skill building. The other parents are all terrific too; it's fun to go watch the kids' games together.
