Powered by GoogleRound 2 on enrollment for parks and recreation activities and total failure again ! Disappointed with the program the lack of support, organization and resources. Waste of money as they don’t reimburse you for the full amount even before kids begin to play knowing their is no coach. Thought I could do a second attempt by giving the city a chance again but ended up again in the “coaches are voluntary “ we are reaching out to parents, and then being told to do it yourself. If I knew I there was gonna be no coach again I would not sign up again. It was chaos , and negative experience for kids and families with city of San Juan. It’s a joke save your money and time.
Unfortunate that they make teams and don’t have coaches. Coaches coach 2-3 teams. And don’t show up to games.
Save your money and go to Pharr, McAllen, or Edinburg. San Juan Parks and Rec opens up leagues with NO COACHES. The 3 times I signed my son up for a league (once in soccer and twice in basketball) with SJPR, they end up having no coaches and a parent ends up coaching the teams. When asked for a refund they, they claim they cannot refund the money. This is an embarrassment to their residents who live in San Juan and sign their children up for their leagues.
I enjoy that they have different sports the kids can sign up for, but they seriously need new referees. Also, it shouldn't be allowed that coaches of the teams be referees as well, as this causes favoritism to certain teams because the coaches and referees are all buddies. This is unprofessional and it really is unfair to the children who play the sport correctly and abide by the rules but other teams play dirty, and it goes "unseen" because the refs are friends with the coaches and vice versa.
Visited the wetlands park today and it's condition is shameful. There Is a large sign with multiple companies and a high school listed as proudly adopting this park, and they should all be held accountable for its condition. Hand made birdhouses litter the ground, The large bird blind has fallen over and the decks are all falling apart. The saddest part is this is directly behind the san juan parks and recreation building and they've put no effort into the park.
