Sail Salem is a community sailing program running youth summer sailing camps for ages 8–18 out of Salem Harbor. Sailors ages 8–12 learn in Optimist dinghies while older campers move to 420s or Sonars, and every session pairs on-land sailing instruction and an expanded on-water experience with a STEAM curriculum covering science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Camps are one-week sessions and students may enroll in one or two; Salem residents register in late February with open registration for everyone from March 1, and financial assistance is available on confirmation of need.
