The Roanoke Recreation Center is a 38,000-square-foot City of Roanoke facility with two full-size basketball courts, two racquetball courts, a weight room, an aerobics room, a walking track, four classrooms and a game room. Its Parks and Recreation department runs a weekly summer day camp for children ages 6 to 12, meeting Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Campers rotate through organized group activities including arts and crafts, games, indoor and outdoor sports, swimming and a weekly field trip. Families pack a non-refrigerated lunch, the center provides snacks, and campers must wear athletic shoes daily.

Better late than never. Myself and my wife - we love being a part of the Rec center. The staff here is very friendly and they have all the info at their fingertips. The gym is big and everything is working and maintained super fine. The timings are great and help a lot when you are working rougher hours. I love the fact that they open up at 5 in the morning. But my special mention would be the group classes and activities. We look forward to it every single day. We love to be a part of Mindy, Rebekah, Lisa and Katie’s classes. It just freshens us up and pumps up the energy. It’s really never boring the way they plan their classes. It’s always a 5 star for me.
