Richmond Urban Dance is a nonprofit hip hop and street dance studio running week-long summer camps split by age: Tiny Movers for ages 3-5, and hip hop camps for ages 6-8 (grooves, footwork, freestyle basics and beginner choreography) and ages 9-11 (musicality, freestyle and performance). Each day opens with a motivational speaker and includes structured activities and games, and campers learn a routine that they perform in a mini showcase for families at the end of the week. An early bird discount is available and includes a camp t-shirt.

Powered by GoogleOnly 3 classes in and can’t imagine finding a better place to have started! Have taken the beginner Saturday morning classes with Mandy and the afternoon class with KD and both were SO fun. I have 0 dance background and am nowhere near good (yet) but the welcoming atmosphere for people of all levels is awesome. Also a great workout, harder than I expected in the best way and can’t wait to keep coming back!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ RUD is an absolutely incredible dance company and ministry, and I can’t say enough good things about the impact they’re making in Richmond. This is a truly mission-focused organization, and you can feel it the moment you walk through their doors. Their mission — “WE MAKE DANCE ACCESSIBLE TO AND EMPOWER INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES, BACKGROUNDS, AND ABILITIES” — isn’t just a statement on their website. They live it every single day. RUD is deeply values-based, rooted in authenticity, belonging, excellence, equity, and respect, and those values shine through in every class, rehearsal, and interaction. They’ve created a safe, positive, and genuinely fun environment where everyone feels welcome—whether you’re stepping into a studio for the first time or returning as a seasoned dancer. One of the most inspiring things about RUD is their commitment to accessibility. They award 300+ scholarships every year, ensuring that financial barriers never prevent someone from experiencing the joy of dance. That level of outreach is rare and speaks volumes about their heart for the community. Beyond the studio, RUD plays a major role in supporting the performing arts in Richmond, VA and truly makes our community a better, more connected, and more inspired place. If you’re looking for a dance home that values people, uplifts the community, and embodies excellence in everything they do, RUD is it. Highly, highly recommend! ❤️🤩
This studio has such a great atmosphere — welcoming, fun, and full of good energy. The instructors make every class easy to follow and enjoyable for all levels. I love the variety and creativity in each class. It’s the perfect place to learn, move, and have a great time. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a supportive place to dance
From the start and through the years RUD has offered opportunities to learn and be part of a fun dance community regardless of dance background, level of expertise Or financial ability . The diverse group of learners and staff make it a welcoming place to learn and have fun while doing so. Mandy and her team do a great job making all feel welcome. They also helped do a fundraiser to support local mental health resources making a positive impact in the community. Thankful for RUD!
I’ve watched this business grow and contribute to our Richmond and greater Virginia community for many years. Their commitment to uplifting youth and creating positive spaces for self-expression is truly inspiring. My own children have taken classes here, and it’s been such a gift to see them feel free to be themselves, to express their creativity, and to take pride in who they are. This organization continues to bring light, hope, and inspiration to everyone they reach — students, families, and the broader community alike. Richmond is lucky to have them!
