Powered by GoogleThe childcare center didn’t meet my expectations. Staff were mostly standing around talking instead of actively engaging with the kids, and I felt like my child wasn’t getting proper attention. Also, the gym itself is quite small, and I often have to wait to use the machines.
Staff is always friendly and I really enjoy the wide variety of fitness classes. The instructors are fun and engage during their classes. The Manchester Y has plenty of programs, classes, and fellowship for all ages. The building and equipment is all relatively new and well taken care of. I always see someone cleaning and disinfecting machines and weights. This gym is not intimidating at all and everyone is friendly & welcoming.
The childcare area could benefit from more consistent engagement with the children. At times, it seems like staff are positioned at the front rather than actively interacting and supervising the kids throughout the space. I would also love to see more age-appropriate activities and stimulation offered for younger babies. Overall, there’s a lot of potential here with a few improvements in engagement and programming.
I am only going to give three stars because I love everyone at this ymca except one! They usually are very pumped and get me motivated. I’m only writing this review, because I’ve been really disturbed about an incident that happened 4/5/26 at approximately 11 am. I came in and forgot my ID bc due to work I had to shift my keys the prior night. The woman who was at front was repeating in a menacing voice over and over “hello hello hello and then she started yelling hello”-I was trying to communicate to her for assistance signing in and she put me at immediate discomfort. She was glaring at me. I apologized and said I was sorry. She rolled her eyes. She rudely asked me why I don’t have my id. I asked her “are you ok?”. She had a mean tone and said “I’m fine bet”. After she slowly and rudely checked me in, I said to her quietly “I hope your day gets better”. She yelled “my day is fine”. I come to the ymca to feel better about myself. I don’t come in for people to unload on me for no reason. Her one job was just to bare minimum sign me in and be pleasant. I, like everyone else am going through things. What is going on Manchester, ymca? Are you not treating your employees right? I heard her yelling at another male coworker near the bathroom about hours she has to work. Why does her bad day have to affect me when I just want to feel better about myself? For the record, I’ve debating complaining about her to give her the benefit of a doubt. But I’m scared to sign up again and for her to be so nasty. The ymca has been a positive thing for me so far!
I love the gym, staff, and vibe of the space. The folks that are working out are friendly and feel supportive of one another. I usually lift and do resistance training in the back and I always feel welcomed. I love that they allow kids 9+ on the gym floor. Makes for a fun and enriching experience together.
