My husband and I went to YMCA in Mount Pleasant to check it out because we need a place to work out at...and the second we walked in the doors my lungs felt like they were closing up. There is a strong fragrance smell throughout the entire gym. Like Febreze or something similar. Fragrances are chemicals and are toxic and are bad for our lungs. They are especially problematic for people who have chemical sensitivities due to autoimmune diseases....or even...for people with allergies...etc. I do not understand why a 'health' club would use something like Febreze throughout their entire gym.

There are many guided fitness classes offered here. The variety of intensity, focus areas, and workout styles (swimming, dance, yoga, pilates, HIIT, weightlifting, etc.) Makes this a great place for people of all ages and experience. The class instructors are kind, inclusive, and they bring their sense of humor every day.

Blanca at the front desk in my opinion makes the place amazing. She remembers almost everyone's name she is kind and she deserves flowers all the time.

The hot tub isn’t hot. I verified with an employee that the operating temp is 95 degrees.. this is less than the average body temp. You WILL get cold if you stay in the hot tub for longer than 10 minutes.

I joined the Y in January of this year. I was like everyone else who has a New Years resolution of getting in shape and losing weight. I found my workout routines boring and monotonous. That is, until I stumbled in Kari's class one Saturday morning. She made me feel so welcomed and was so encouraging of everyone in her class. I felt like I belonged there...and a huge bonus was how much fun we had. Every week is something new, fun, and challenging. Well I'm proud to say that after 9 months, I'm still at it. Along the way, I started attending other classes too. Michel and Angela are amazing as well! Positive, friendly, and make you feel welcome.... plus you know you're getting a great workout with them. These ladies are truly caring and amazing! Plus if you're nervous about trying a class, they all offer modifications for everyone of all ages and fitness levels.
