Progressive Kids teaches coding to children from 4th grade upward, running after-school programs year-round and coding classes and camps each summer at sites in Fremont, Newark, Milpitas and Livermore. The curriculum covers Python, Java, C++, JavaScript, website building, databases, data science and mobile apps, with course-level offerings such as Python for Kids, which works through programming basics, data analysis, game coding and Tkinter interfaces, and 2D Unity Game Design, in which students design and program their own games. The Fremont summer camps are taught in person at Ohlone Community College in coordination with the Ohlone for Kids program. Daily hours and an upper age limit are not published.

I'm happy to share our positive experience with Progressive Kids. Both of my children have taken their online coding classes, and the results have been excellent. The courses are well-structured, and the instructors make learning fun and easy to follow- even in online format . My daughter, now in her third year of college, started Python in 7th grade and completed three years of coursework. My son began in 5th grade and followed the same path. I especially appreciate how the curriculum is tailored by grade level, with clear instruction that helped my kids build skills year after year.

Both of my kids have been taking online coding classes here, and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s gone. The classes are thoughtfully designed, and the instructors do a great job making coding fun and easy to follow — even in an online setting. My daughter, who’s in 4th grade, started with Python. It was her first time trying anything like this, but she picked it up quickly thanks to the way the material is introduced. She’s already building small projects and gets so excited to show us what she’s made. My 14-year-old son also chose Python and is now moving into more advanced topics, including USACO Bronze prep. He took the summer review course last year, and it really helped him feel more confident. One thing I appreciate is how the programs are broken down by grade level — Python starts from 4th grade, C++ and web development from 5th, and Java, Unity, and Arduino from 6th grade and up. It gives kids a clear path to grow as they get older and more experienced. After I shared our experience with a few other families, some of my son’s friends ended up joining too, and their parents have also had great things to say. That’s what made me want to post this review — in case it helps other parents who are trying to find a solid online coding option for their kids. Highly recommend!

My daughter attended first Java Script and now attending python classes. Very impressive & tailored for kids program and approach of teaching. I am proud to see my daughter independently writing python programs for the various exercises given. Thank you.

My 5th grader has been coming here for almost a year. Professional classes. They provide materials, laptop, and a scan disk when done. If we miss a class, makeup classes are available. We had options of other schools but I felt this one was better because the kids that attend are all there to learn. Ages range from 5th grade and up. We attended both the sessions at Ohlone College and the one on Darwin Dr.

My son enjoys the python lessons very much! The lectures are very interesting. He likes the topics and the contents, and how it is taught. It is clear and understandble. A lot of interaction between teacher and students. The teacher explains things well. She tries to break it down so that you understand easily. Thank you for making the lesson so interesting!
