Powered by GooglePerfect Balance is a wonderful gym with collaborative coaches who truly want the best for each gymnast. We have been there for almost 7 years in rec, pre team, USAG, and now AAU. I cannot imagine being at any other gym. The AAU program has been an excellent fit for our daughter and her USAG coaches recognized that, recommended it, and held our hand during the transition. I cannot say enough good thing about the care and discernment shown by each coach to the gymnasts. PBTC is our daughter’s happy place!
I am posting this later than intended due to travel and college applications, but I feel it is important to share our family’s experience. In April, my niece and several of her Level 7 teammates were released from the program. Families were given explanations such as being “too tall,” “lacking focus,” or having “reached her peak.” As a physician and a family member, I found this type of feedback particularly concerning for young athletes who are still developing physically and emotionally. Within the gymnastics community, team removals at this level and age are uncommon absent serious behavioral or conduct issues, none of which applied in my niece’s situation. Only after families spoke with one another did we begin to understand how inconsistent the guidance and communication had been across the group. Earlier in the season, my niece had fallen on the balance beam and subsequently developed significant anxiety around that event. When I stayed to observe a practice, I saw her sitting out during that rotation. In hindsight, there were clear indicators of distress that were visible but not effectively addressed. Through conversations with other parents, a broader pattern emerged: performance expectations appeared to take priority over consistent instruction, athlete support, and confidence-building. Over time, this imbalance had a tangible effect on her motivation and overall enjoyment of the sport. Taken together, these experiences raised serious concerns for our family and ultimately culminated in my niece being released from the program at the end of the season. Since transitioning to another gym, she has been rebuilding confidence and reengaging with gymnastics in a markedly more supportive environment. I am sharing this experience so families can more fully evaluate whether this program aligns with their child’s developmental and emotional needs.
My daughter has been at PBTC since she was 2 years old (she’s now 5), and I cannot express enough what an exceptional experience she has had—starting with the preschool classes and now in Mighty Mites. She has had outstanding coaches from the very beginning, and that consistency has meant the world to us. She has grown tremendously and genuinely looks forward to every class. Her coaches—Mary Grace, Chloe, Charlotte, and Greyson—are absolute rockstars. I’m constantly amazed by how much they’re able to teach these young athletes. What impresses me even more, though, is the unwavering positivity, encouragement, and sincere care they pour into these girls. The owners, Hannah and Suzi, have truly created something special. They are down-to-earth, attentive, and have hearts of pure gold. They pour so much into the community, lead by example, and inspire these young athletes to give back as well. A special shout out to Robin at the front desk! She is a gem! We cannot recommend PBTC highly enough!
My daughter attended perfect balance for over two years and we continued there because of convenience, but are now moving to Zenith. The teachers are extremely young, do not appear to enjoy themselves, and are very hard on the girls. There’s also a 30 day drop notice policy that makes no sense for a class where there is plenty of room, so it’s just a way to gouge money. I could understand this policy if Her spot was a high value spot which it is not. Honestly, perfect balance is a money gouge for what you receive.
Our family had a deeply disappointing experience at Perfect Balance Training Center. This program damaged my daughter’s emotional well-being and completely failed to prioritize the growth or care of her as a young athlete. My daughter trained over 10 hours a week, and one afternoon, I walked into practice and personally witnessed coaches making fun of my daughter’s run during vault warm-ups and laughing to one another. Even after they saw me standing there, their behavior did not change. The following day, I privately emailed both the Pre-Team Director and the owner to bring this to their attention and express my disappointment and concern, expecting at least acknowledgment or follow-up. Neither have ever responded and it has been almost 2 months. Their silence and inaction speak volumes about their leadership and values. Rather than building my daughter’s confidence, the coaches broke her down, insulted her, and ultimately refused to coach her. This behavior is unprofessional and unacceptable for anyone working with children. Other reviews reference the same lack of accountability from the owners and coaching staff—and I can confirm those concerns are valid. Their absence of responsibility and professionalism is unacceptable. PBTC failed to demonstrate even the most basic level of care, respect, and responsibility and parents deserve to know how little regard is given to a child’s well-being.
