Had a great experience at Mallard Creek Recreation Center stopping by for a quick workout. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and always helpful, which makes it an easy place to bring the whole family. The facilities are clean and well-kept, with all the essential fitness equipment you need for a solid workout. There’s plenty to do beyond the gym too—basketball courts (including a great setup for night play), pickleball, badminton, and more. Overall, it’s a very family-friendly spot with something for everyone.

I am extremely disappointed with how this facility is being managed. There is absolutely no mention of any age restriction for playing badminton on their website or during registration. However, when I showed up to play, I was suddenly told that I am not allowed because I am underage. This is completely unfair and misleading. If there are rules like this, they should be clearly stated upfront so people don’t waste their time coming in expecting to play. I came specifically during the allotted badminton time and was turned away with no prior notice. What made the situation even worse was the lack of support from staff. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told to send an email and that they “might reply.” That is not acceptable customer service. I had to travel 25 minutes to get there, only to be sent back for no reason. This entire experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and a complete waste of my time. This kind of lack of transparency and accountability really needs to be fixed.

⭐️⭐️ I would give it a one but I don’t like giving 1 star reviews when there’s room for improvement. They may have done some upgrades to the facility, but honestly it wasn’t much of an improvement. The place still feels pretty basic for what it could be. The reception desk guy, Shorty, didn’t really seem interested in helping or putting much effort into his job, which didn’t leave a great first impression. The trail outside is just a circular path — nothing exciting or scenic about it. Overall, it’s okay for a quick stop, but definitely not somewhere I’d go out of my way to visit.

Nice Mecklenburg County recreation center with basketball courts/pickleball courts plus exercise room with weights and one with cardio machines. Also has kids play area outside and, I believe, meeting rooms inside with programs for seniors, etc. Inside is very clean and well kept. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Finally they are open. Not much changes but closed for a long time. New kids playground has been added. Staff is nice. This recreation center should host more event for kids. There are 3 small community rooms. Restrooms has been remodeled.
