I was here and casually witnessed an amazing and highly professional action from the new YMCA pearl Street in Tacoma. The director Faith had expertly handled a very difficult and upset member who is being very rude to everyone in the lobby. All of the staff is well represented under this amazing leader Faith. Alex and angelique in particular are very kind and excellent staff members. I'm very proud to say that my son who is interviewing here will be honored to work with an organization with leaders like Faith. Shawn Skaggs

Pros: Feels Clean, love the pool options, love the weights area. Love how much light there is. Cons: I hate the co-ed changing room! That’s so disappointing! I hate how there are no showers after you get out of the pool. Showers with soap. Most people don’t even shower when they get in the pool. The showers are where? The elevator was. It working. The stairs are cheaply made. It feels like everything was constructed cheaply. At higher costs you get new and old. Whoever did the planning on this really sucked! It’s so sad. Why can’t the YMCA, Metro Parks and Pen Met Parks listen to the community.

They embarrassed my son today in the pool. We have been swimming in the new pool since it opened... For 2 weeks now we've been in that pool as many times as we can with no problems. My boys are 12 and 14... All of a sudden today the lifeguard pulls him out and tells him he can't go in the lazy River because he doesn't have a wristband on! ... !? He was in the pool with three of his friends who also did not have wristbands, but they pulled only him aside and embarrassed him. I don't know why only him. I've never once been told anything about wristbands. I've not seen anyone passing out wristbands. I've not seen anyone at the door asking about wristbands. I don't know where to get wristbands. I don't know what the wristband is about. He sat in the pool sad for the rest of the time, because he thought he was in trouble. I don't know why the lifeguard decided to pick on my son. Maybe she doesn't like kids with curly hair. I don't know what the problem is. I don't know why they don't make it more clear about their rules and why they don't enforce the rules across the board for everybody in the pool. Why don't they have somebody walking around with wristbands? There is absolutely no explanation. They just say hi to you. They wave you in and you go and swim in the pool and normally have a good time. But apparently they have a strict rule about wristbands that they all of a sudden decided to enforce today to one of my sons and none of the other kids around him. I looked around and 3/4 of the kids that were in that pool did not have a wristband. So I have no idea what the rhyme or reason is to this arbitrary rule.

I love the brand new building with expanded gym and aquatic center. Yesterday I was working out there for the first time. The equipment is so much better and there were so many beautiful people working out. I felt inspired and I can’t wait to go to the new aquatic area. They got a splash pad for little kids, a hot tub and regular swimming pool. Check out my short video to see that beauty.
