Powered by GoogleI have been going to the armory for several years now and I can say it has been an overall good experience. The staff are very kind and helpful in all your needs for anything athletic related. However one critique I have is the fact that half of the gym is being constructed for more than three years, otherwise it is great.
The YMCA Armory is a fantastic community hub that perfectly blends a unique historical atmosphere with modern, top-tier fitness equipment. The facility is consistently clean and well-maintained, and the staff members always go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Whether you are there for a intense workout or a community program, it is easily the best place in town to reach your health goals.
Love this place. I started coming a year ago and I should have started sooner! Excellent instructors and staff. It’s a welcoming community of people where you feel encouraged to get in shape.
Only half court basketball, the full court isn’t actually a full court. The 3 point lines don’t go to the corners and there’s no proper out of bounds lines. The main court (which is a proper half court) has a big bump going through the middle. The floor also causes yellow discoloration on your sneakers. However, since the court is so trash, you get access to the other locations for free.
Updated one last time: after realizing nothing was going to change, I finally quit this daycare with some free weights. Updated again! Zero change to the weight availability, equipment availability, etiquette of the teens and children. Someone please open a gym near Windsor terrace. Updated because this is a persistent problem: Unless you feel comfortable walking through a full class in the front studio, these are all the free weights available to you in the other studio space. I really thought this place has potential when I first joined, but one squat/deadlift area? One cable machine? No incline leg press? No flat benches? Children running around unsupervised using equipment incorrectly and loudly? Equipment is so squished together and there’s so much space that could be used better. I wish there were more options near Windsor terrace, but this place is really it if you don’t want a studio. Pre teen boys take up so much of the place. Please enforce supervision for kids. This isn’t a daycare.
