Ormao Dance Company & School in downtown Colorado Springs has been the city's resident professional dance company since 1990 and describes itself as an inclusive, non-competitive home for dance. Its school offers open-to-the-public classes for ages 3 through adult in creative movement, ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, hip hop and tap, and it runs an audition-based pre-professional Student Company for ages 9-18 with three repertory groups (9-12, 12-18 and an advanced 14-18 group) that create, perform and collaborate in the community. I’ve been taking their adult intro ballet classes on Saturday mornings since February and while I won’t be around much this summer, I’m considering signing up again in the fall along with another class during the week. The company is so nice, sweet and welcoming. Even on the few days I arrived late to class they still welcomed me in and wanted me to participate.

There is also a dance company that shares the space. They have different shows that adapt to the times. During Covid they had an outdoor concert in order to follow safety regulations. The staff and teachers are super helpful and kind. You can tell they have the best intentions for everyone. I highly recommend going here!
