Ocean Gate Yacht Club runs a junior sailing program on Barnegat Bay from June to August, open to both members and non-members at different rates. Puddle Ducks is a land-based introduction for 5- and 6-year-olds running 9:00am-12:00pm, River Rookies is a 9:00am-3:00pm introductory program for ages 7 and up, and four-week and eight-week programs for ages 7 and up sail Optimists, Sunfish, Lasers and 420s. The longer programs require your own boat, though boat rentals are available for sailors registered in the four- or eight-week Optimist programs. Orientation is in late June with sailing starting the following day.
