NYSA (New York School of Arts) is an art school on Maple Avenue East in Vienna, founded in New York in 2009 and opened in the Washington D.C. area in 2019, that runs summer art day camps for ages 5-14. Campers work across fine-arts subjects - drawing, craft, sculpture, collage and mixed media - and specialty camps cover pottery, sewing and comics, with some sessions grouped by rising grade. Camps are project-based, with each student building on existing skills toward finished work.

The New York School of Arts is an incredible resource for the Vienna community. The instructors are clearly experts in their fields and bring a high level of professional insight that you don’t typically find in local studios. The environment is supportive and truly focuses on helping each student find their own unique artistic voice. The facility is well-organized and the staff makes the registration process very easy. If you are looking for top-tier art education in Northern Virginia, this is the place to go!

We hosted a birthday party at NYSA for my daughter who turned 7. The NYSA team was absolutely fantastic! It was by far the easiest birthday party I have ever planned. From the moment we arrived, the team was very attentive and even helped unpack the car and set up the food. The kids were fully engrossed in their paintings and loved every minute! Thank you NYSA for making this the best birthday party!!

My daughter has been attending classes and camps at NYSA for over 3 years and she has loved every single session. They are a small but mighty team who has built a truly special place. Each art teacher is uniquely talented and each piece my daughter made is creative and fun. We are big fans over here. Thank you, NYSA!

This has been such a great experience for our budding artist! We were so happy to find an all-day camp, they are well organized and communication to parents is great (the parking on Maple is a little tricky but I appreciated the emails with visual aids of drop-off/pickup procedures). Initially she complained that the teacher "makes us do projects she wants to do and not let us be creative" - taking everything with a grain of salt since she's 6yrs old - but the art she brought home felt very "true to her style", and she got to experiment with all kinds of new techniques and materials. By the end of the first week, she was excited to go and wants to return next year. It's so great to find a quality art school in our area and we hope to participate for years to come.

The staff at NYSA are so warm and welcoming! My daughter is constantly asking to go back. We have done their after-school program (which includes pick up from several Vienna schools) as well as a week of summer camp. I was impressed with how they kept summer pick-up lines moving using a sign for car windows making pick-up a breeze in an otherwise tight parking lot. Definitely a great sign when your kid leaves camp and insists on hugging all her teachers before she leaves.
