Powered by GoogleWhen we first started going to the Kennesaw YMCA it was alright and I would’ve given it 3 stars. The weight lifting area is very small and gets crowded quickly, they have an abundance of cardio machines almost no one uses, and an indoor track that is comically small. However, the amenities were the only redeeming quality. Over the last year they have increased membership prices which were already a little high in my opinion and taken away amenities. The first we noticed was when they cancelled parents morning out. We were taken by surprise. When we asked about why it was cancelled we were told that there wasn’t enough people enrolled. Had my wife and I known we would scheduled our daughter more and even helped advertised parents morning out since the facility never did. They then closed the outside gym and the way things are going I would imagine the pool and weight area will be gone next. There are also lots of petty squabbles between faculty members that I’ve seen and is very awkward to be around. I once saw a female employee use a decibel meter to make sure a dance exercise class wasn’t too loud. In my opinion you can find a better gym with an actual weight lifting area for far less money and I would highly recommend you try those before going here. If any staff member reads this and wants to reach out to discuss these issues feel free to do so. I’ll even name the employee that drove us to cancel.
I’ve had a great experience at the YMCA. The class instructors are excellent helpful and welcoming to all fitness levels. The facility is always clean which makes working out comfortable and enjoyable. The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly, always ready to answer questions or assist when needed. It’s also nice that no one is trying to upsell you on extra services or memberships, which makes the environment feel relaxed and genuine. Overall, it’s a positive and supportive place, and I highly recommend it!
I am beyond disappointed with the sports program at this Y. The basketball league has been incredibly disorganized with little to no communication and no accountability. Easily the worst run league I have ever been a part of. We had referees for only half of the games, and when we did, they were often late and didn’t know the rules of our 8U league. The first game of the season, we showed up with no other team to play. The last game of the season, our team was rescheduled about an hour before the start, “Due to another game being scheduled at 2pm”. The league cost just as much or more than other local leagues. We will be canceling our Y membership and playing somewhere else next season.
I absolutely love my local YMCA. The facility is always clean, the equipment is well maintained and up to date, and it’s clear they take pride in keeping everything in great shape. What really sets this YMCA apart is the staff—everyone is friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. After traveling and visiting a YMCA out of town, it really made me appreciate just how great my home YMCA is. I’m grateful to have such a high-quality, well-run facility in my community.
The Northwest Family YMCA is a fantastic place for families! The staff always greets us warmly and even remembers our names, which makes it feel so welcoming. The facility is impeccably clean and truly family-friendly. They offer programs for all ages and fitness levels, so there’s something for everyone. It’s become a regular hangout spot for our family, and we absolutely love it here. Highly recommend!
