Powered by GoogleI've been to all the Y's in Richmond and this is my favorite one. It has such a homey feel to it which is truly a reflection of the staff, they are so genuine and hands on, they always have a smile on their face, always willing to help. There is always room, it has everything you need essentials wise. They don't have as many amenities as some of the other Y's but the energy truly makes up for it. It makes me look forward to my workouts.
I came in around 3:15 pm Friday and the lady at the front was so kind and helpful and then gentleman showed me around and was just as wonderful. I wish I had names but I’m sure you’ll know who I’m talking about. I was kinda nervous about working out for the first time in years but they put me at ease and made me very comfortable. What a great place!
Wow. Everyone is so friendly here Facility is busy but front desk person was incredibly helpful. Took a water aerobics class with Joan G that was the best one I have taken, anywhere. She was enthusiastic , music was great, and i had a full body workout while she pumped up my mind. The pool, showers and locker room were spotless. Well worth driving 20 minutes to be there
I have taken three adult swim lessons so far at the Northside YMCA & my teacher, Keizie Joseph has been AWESOME (just to be clear of which teacher I'm referring to, this is the 12:00 noon Saturday adult swim teacher & i am her only student). This teacher has a wonderful understanding of how to teach adults how to swim. She is patient, understanding, non-judgemental, non-patronizing & proffessional. I am 55 years old & I've never learned how to swim. During my 2nd class, she has me kicking my feet & moving my arms like a "real swimmer" 😂. I've been extremely stressed out recently & learning how to swim was a goal I set for myself. After my second lesson, I felt SO proud of myself. When Keizi was not there during my third lesson, let's just say she was GREATLY missed. Today will be my final lesson & I'm looking forward to fininishing up with her. For me, the purpose of these lessons were re-gaining self confidence, stress relief, achieving an important goal & just getting some time for myself. These past visits were my first impressions of the Northside YMCA, so the five stars I'm giving this location is for Keizi. I haven't started my final lesson yet (it's at noon) but i wanted to give Keizi her praise! Thank You!❤️
From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but on the inside it was a pleasant surprise. The moment we walked in, Carla at the front desk was very friendly and courteous. When I inquired about the coffee bar, she graciously brewed a fresh pot. The remodel looks spectacular. They have a comfortable lounge area where you can hang out and work, or just relax and watch some hoops. The locker rooms look brand new. Overall, a phenomenal experience!
