★Andrew LittleWe have had a great experience until today. My son’s basketball team was cheated of three points. His team “lost” by two, which means they really won by one. There was one bucket (two points) that was taken off the scoreboard. At one point, a player on my son’s team was at the free throw line and made both shots, only one was accounted for. I approached the score table, at halftime, to request clarification as to why the second free throw was not accounted for. The female official stated that he in fact made both shots. After a short discussion between the two officials and the official scorekeeper, the one point was added. However, it was taken off after I returned to my seat. The scorekeeper was seen (with the opposing team’s coach) at the table, erasing scores out of the official scorebook. This is quite the bad look! Last, but certainly not least, was a call where one of our players supposedly stepped out of bounds. The official was on the other side of the court, not in position to make a fair judgment call. I happened to be sitting on the side where the questionable play occurred. He, in fact, DID NOT step out of bounds! This is the least of my concern as everybody makes mistakes. However, it is completely unacceptable to take away a victory from a team of 12-year-olds, by blatantly cheating, erasing scores out of the scorebook and taking them off the board! Shame on today’s officials during the Warriors/Thunder game! Do better, Newton County Recreation Department! Signed, an upset parent and child who deserve an apology and some type of quality explanation!

This was my first year signing my daughter up for basketball and the cost is over $100 and they could not give my child a participation trophy!🤦🏾♀️ I mean what is my money paying for? From my understanding the uniforms are sponsored by the Atlanta Hawks team so you mean to tell me you cannot take 11 buck from the amount paid to give every child a participation trophy. This pretty much is saying to the child you “suck” in a since because you are not apart of the top 2 teams. I think this is ridiculous and my child will not be playing at this recreation department moving forward!!! Sad just sad!!!
