Switching our son to the Nelly Berman School of Music after 3 years of piano elsewhere completely transformed his musical journey, bringing an immediate boost to his motivation and home practice. World-Class Faculty & Tailored Mentorship Our son takes 2 hours of weekly lessons split between 2 teachers. Both teachers are exceptionally methodical, easy to work with, and provide fantastic guidance especially for new and challenging musical notes. He also received a few weeks of rigorous training under Elena. As director, she still generously finds time to personally encourage highly motivated students. Outstanding Milestones & Dedication NBS has instilled an incredible work ethic. Our son practices 1–2 hours daily at home, which naturally increased to over 2 hours a day leading up to the competition. Under his teachers' guidance, he won several Platinum Awards in the Rising Stars Piano competitions (solo and concerto) and earned a merit scholarship after just one year! A Balanced Approach to Music As parents, we value encouragement over overloading kids with endless competitions. We’ve had a really great experience with Nerlly Berman Music School. Elena has been super helpful and caring from the beginning. She helped my child find a wonderful voice teacher who’s been a perfect fit. My child has improved a lot and become much more confident. The school also gives students opportunities to perform, which has been such a valuable experience. Everyone is very supportive and encouraging. Definitely recommend!

Both of my children took piano lessons at the Nelly Berman School for years, and I myself restarted playing the cello (after decades away from the instrument!) by taking lessons there, too. The standards of musicianship at NBS are very high, and the school does a great job of combining those standards with a supportive and encouraging community ethos. I strongly recommend it for families who are seeking a serious and fulfilling musical education/experience. Quite a few of the students there aspire to and achieve careers in music, but it is also a great place for children (and adults!) who want instrumental music to be an important part, but not the biggest part, of their lives.

Both my kids go for music lessons here and they do a variety of instruments. My daughter does piano and oboe and my son does French horn and saxaphone. The teachers are very nice and Elana demands high standards from her students. As a parent we can feel assured that the teachers sincerely want the student to succeed and reach their potential and if you kid does well Elana will make sure the feedback is provided and also guide on what to do next. My daughter and son both got into Philadelphia youth concert band due to the music lessons from Nelly bermanr school of music. And I really appreciate all the teachers and their dedication to music as well as to the students.
