NC Outdoor Adventures (formerly Thrifty Adventures) is a guided outdoor outfitter based in Bakersville in the Western North Carolina mountains, offering tubing, rafting, kayak instruction, rock climbing, rappelling, and hiking. It runs youth and veteran programs and merit-badge courses customizable to a group, but its site does not clearly document a structured open-enrollment kids' summer camp.

Perfect afternoon float on a bucket list river. We were asked to come early, no problem, and greeted at the office. Took a short drive to the river, put in and floated for hours. Hubby and I had a good time and would definitely come back if we are ever in North Carolina again.

Professional, attentive, and knowledgeable. The gear was in tip-top shape and reasonably priced. The team is kind and attentive to our family’s needs throughout. I especially appreciated their efforts to mark the river route clearly post-Helene. This is a genuine and good place to trust. 👍

Wonderful kayak 2.5 hour trip to view the spider lilies at Landsford Canal State Park . Knowledgeable and helpful guides (2) for our small group (12?). Easy to book online and good communication (emails). I would do this trip again with NCOA.

Our guide Matt was awesome!! He went the extra mile all day. We had a climbing trip and had our 8year old daughter with us and Matt was so good with helping her. We climbed all day and Matt never tried to call it earlier than needed. Educational and adventurous, I would definitely recommend NCOA!

An absolutely awesome tubing experience! We chose the two-hour option and had a great time. Our guide was there for pickup, even though we took a bit longer due to stopping to swim a couple of times, and on our return trip, he provided excellent facts and details about local points of interest. Check out their other outdoor activities if you are not into tubing. Super cool headquarters location as well!
