Mount Aetna Camp and Retreat Center, operated by the Chesapeake Conference of Seventh-day Adventists near Hagerstown, Maryland, hosts the ACA-accredited Mt. Aetna Summer Camp (a week-long Christian overnight camp for ages 7 to 16) plus the shorter FLAG day camp for ages 5 to 13. Activities include swimming, water skiing, photography, and drama, with a nurse on site around the clock.

★★★Hayden KingI’ve been coming to this nature center since I was a child and have always enjoyed the natural setting. The environment is beautiful and serene especially in the fall time. I was lucky enough to adopt one of the camps horses and we always enjoy the trails in our free time. Sometimes we come to eat our lunch when we have a day off work. Recently the camp seems to have gotten a bit more strict on who’s coming and going, today me and my 6 month pregnant fiancé came to enjoy lunch on our day off as usual and were uncomfortably questioned as to who we were and what we were doing there. We were also informed that the property is private property and only authorized individuals were permitted to be there. We thought that applied to us so we took our leave respectfully; but the director later informed us that it was merely precautionary. We had no idea the camp had gotten so tight on entry but we’re glad we know now and we look forward to further enjoying the nature it has to offer and hopefully sharing it with our daughter someday soon.
★★★★★DMHThe Chesapeake Conference Singles have retreat twice a year here...in the Fall and Spring. It's a great place to unwind, recharge, and connect with God and nature. If you like nature but don't want to camp in a tent, the cabins are very nice complete with a/c , heat, showers/bathrooms, and electricity. It's very comfortable. The Chesapeake Singles retreat is very inexpensive as well. The entire weekend cost $80 for lodging and meals...all vegan and vegetarian meals. Activities are included as well. You're not under any obligation to attend all of them either. It's by far the most bang for your buck for a weekend.
