Moss Hollow

Overnight camp on 400 wooded acres in Markham, Virginia, about 70 miles west of Washington DC, run by the social service nonprofit Family Matters of Greater Washington for youth and teens ages 7-15 from the greater Washington DC area. Week-long sessions run Monday to Friday and combine nature hikes, team building, recreation, arts and crafts and outdoor skills; the camp states a 1:5 staff-to-camper ratio and a full-time nurse on site. Round-trip bus service runs from Temple Hills, Maryland, departing Monday morning and returning Friday evening. Tuition is a flat weekly cost plus a per-season registration fee, with a sibling discount, and the camp's Send a Kid to Camp Scholarship Fund supports families who could not otherwise attend.
