Today was the first day that I have ever visited the YMCA at Mitch Park in Edmond. I was greeted at the reception table by Stephanie. I joined the YMCA today at Mitch Park as part of the Silver Sneakers program. Stephanie was personable, professional, energetic, and very knowledgeable. She gave me a grand tour of the beautiful and incredible facility. I am looking forward to becoming more healthy by working out at the YMCA at Mitch Park. I highly recommend Stephanie if you have any questions about the Y's programs, the facility, or any of the aspects of the rooms and equipment. She was so friendly and patient, and is an excellent representative of the Y at Mitch Park. Stephanie, thank you for helping me get started with the Y and for such incredible assistance, giving me all the exciting details about the YMCA and its programs. It was a pleasure meeting you today. I appreciate your awesome help! Thank you!

This YMCA is fabulous. Great and kind staff and very clean and large facilities. Such a great place to go to work out, swim, or just play basketball!

I was visiting from out of town and called earlier in the day to confirm lap swim hours and the guest pass price. I was told lap swim was available 8–9 PM for $10. I showed up at 8 and was immediately turned away from the main pool and sent to a poorly lit, overly chlorinated recreational pool with ONE shared lane. The water was also too warm for a proper workout. Meanwhile, multiple lanes in the competition pool were open and actively guarded—but somehow not available. The only explanation given was swim team practice, which was using roughly a quarter of the pool. Staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. When I asked for a lifeguard supervisor, no one could identify who that was. The front desk experience wasn’t any better. I was completely misled on the phone—at no point was I told the main pool would be unavailable. That’s a major omission, especially when the competition pool is a key advertised amenity. I sought a refund and was told a director would call me to follow up. It’s now been several days with no contact. I’m sure there will be a reply here asking me to reach out, but at this point that’s too little, too late—they should have followed up as promised. I’ve been to dozens of YMCA locations, and this is easily the worst-managed one I’ve experienced. If you’re a serious swimmer, avoid this place.

YMCA staff do nothing but play on their phones in the basketball court. Snotty teenage childcare workers roll their eyes when one brings their kids into childwatch. Pools are always closed or have unavailable hours. They replaced the cool fitness space with state of the art machines. Snooze. Even the track has gotten lame because walkers walk in the running lane all the time now. And yeah, not fun when the tweens are in the adult locker rooms.

The YMCA has been woven into every chapter of my life. I grew up at the Y, and now my children have, too. My sons played sports there throughout their childhood, and my youngest explored every sport the Y had to offer before finding the one she loves most. But the YMCA has always been more than just a place to play or work out , it’s where we’ve built friendships, found support, and stayed connected to our community. It’s where I gave back by coaching, volunteering, and joining charity events that made a real impact. From the excitement of Parent Night Out as a child to staying healthy and strong as an adult, the Y has been a safe and welcoming place at every stage of life. In every city I’ve lived, it’s felt like home. It’s not just a gym , it’s a cornerstone of community, growth, and belonging.
