Best time ever!! So incredibly memorable. Our first experience with Maryland Hall was a Candlelight Orchestral performance of Taylor Swift songs/medleys. Firstly, you should know the venue was converted from the former Annapolis HS, so a very old building. Looks beautiful f/ the outside but is somewhat dated inside. Despite this we still had a great time, but that could’ve been highly influenced by our whole family coming together to enjoy this very meaningful concert that has ties to our past. An honest review of the venue: restrooms were clean and tidy but there was a bit of a line (2 of 5 or 6 women’s stalls were marked out of order). Not sure about the men’s. Vending machines were downstairs w/water and drinks for sale. The hall itself where we saw the performance was older but decently nice. We didn’t have any issues seeing from about the middle of section B-halfway back from the stage. The wings- the best view but are two top seating and the most expensive. I’m sure the balcony also had a good views. It’s a pretty small venue so no matter where you sit, you’ll never be very far from the stage. The performance was not shown on the side tvs. We were concerned based on the FAQs we read that our party(6) might have difficulty getting seats together if we didn’t get there early and all at once. We simply shared the other tix w/ our guests ahead of time. Tix were checked at the outside doors. Once inside the theatre, staff shows you where your section is; you seat yourself wherever you want in that section and can hold the number of seats you need. It’s easy to go in and out for refreshments and restrooms. FYI, if you’re there for one of the candlelight performances as we were, and you paid the extra $10 for the candlelight photo option…you’ll receive a very SMALL POLAROID picture at the end (photos are taken before it starts). It’s honestly not worth it. If I had it to do over again I would’ve asked in lieu of their Polaroid, could we take a photo w/our camera instead. They took three and we chose the best one. Relative to temperature, it was a pretty hot day outside for early April, near 85°. I was expecting the inside to struggle to stay cool. It wasn’t chilly by any means; it was honestly just the right temp. Cool enough to not be hot but enough to wish you had a sweater. The performance itself was a 10/10. I’d pay to see it again a 100x. The 4 person orchestra was very personable and encouraged us to clap and sing along when we heard something we liked. Pls remember that many candlelight concerts are performed by different groups so they won’t all be like this. Something I didn’t appreciate was the staff allowing ppl to enter in between songs despite the rules saying doors would close 5 min ahead and no one’s permitted to enter late. Ppl were coming and going a lot which took away f/the performance. Also, the FAQs very clearly said photos and videos were not permitted except during “the final piece.” We were also told this by the musicians before the concert started. In the set list online, the final piece appeared to be a 1989 medley. So as soon as we heard it begin, we all whipped out our phones and were confused when the staff scolded us. No one was aware that the 1989 “medley” would consist of multiple pieces that had clear beginnings and endings, stops and starts. We also were not aware the musicians would later tell us that we were now permitted to take video. So, a bit confusing. Parking was easy. There were a number of smaller parking lots all around the venue (close proximity) as well as some parallel parking and handicapped parking. The venue sits in a residential neighborhood seemingly, so it would have been super easy to grab parking if the lots were all full. Remember tho, small venue. And if you’re not familiar w/the area, there’s plenty of eateries within a 3-4 mile radius of venue. For the price point, I’d go again for sure.

The Valentine concert was beautiful and I really enjoyed every song they played, as well as the introduction provided before the songs. My only complaint was that it was advertised that people would not be let in after it started, however for at least ten minutes after the start, they were still allowing people in, which was extremely disruptive because the seats were small so everyone else in the row had to stand up to let them in. I had to get up twice during the performance to let others in. Given this was only an hour long, I felt a little cheated from enjoying all the music.

The quartet was AWESOME, highly recommend them. The venue was atrocious. The Ushers and Patrons were very talkative. They sat people 20 minutes into the show. Disrupted and impacted my show, which I did not deserve. I was in my seat 10 minutes before the start.

The Candlelight Neo Soul experience was beautiful. The candlelit ambiance and live musicians created an intimate, soulful atmosphere. Smooth, nostalgic music and great energy throughout. Well organized and truly memorable — I’d definitely attend again.
