I actually haven't been to this YMCA in 18 years, and walking in felt like a time capsule, absolutely nothing has changed. The same seats, the same dated building, and a layout that makes the whole place feel cramped. Don't let the online pictures fool you either. The weight room looks decent in photos, but it's deceptively tiny. More than four people and it's overcrowded immediately. The cleanliness is a real problem. There are moldy ceiling tiles, the pool is visibly stained, and the whole facility has the feel of a place doing the bare minimum to stay operational. The lobby felt pretty unprofessional at the front desk that made it hard to get settled or feel like the place was being run with intention. Pool management was nonexistent. One family took over every single lane with no intervention, so lap swimming wasn't even a realistic option. No military discount on day passes, either. You have to commit to a full membership before any discount applies, which feels like a miss. The staff members themselves were genuinely friendly, that part stood out. I like the 80s vibe in the dirty locker rooms. But this place needs serious attention from management, a real cleaning overhaul and some long overdue renovations.
Although the building is old, our family enjoys coming here. Nice walking track, gym equipment, pool and friendly people. Both my girls swim on the Marlins Team and love it!
the basketball courts are never clean. the only way theyre usable is when 20+ kids are on the floor racking up the dust. they have so many employees yet the cleanliness is abysmal. same for the gym. complaints and suggestions have changed nothing.
Their childcare program is awesome! My child attends every year/summer and loves it. All the staff are friendly and helpful plus they always put child safety first!
