The policies around signing in and paying for the use of facilities as the guest of a member impedes on the space feeling welcoming and worthy of the ten dollar fee (that somehow costs more as a guest). My partner and I tried to pay to use the gym, and the front desk made my mother-in-law come out of her workout to verify who we were even though the front desk was already familiar with all of us. That might not sound like big deal, but it doesn’t seem to reflect the sense of community values this already extremely expensive business tries to present.

I have been to the mountaintop—and in this humble community center, I see the promise of the Beloved Community made manifest. The Logan Steele Community Center is more than brick and mortar; it is a house of unity, a temple of recreation, a gathering place where dignity walks hand in hand with opportunity. Here, young and old, Black and white, rich and poor, may come together not in conflict, but in common purpose. It is a reminder that greatness lies not in stone walls, but in how we serve one another.

Great community center! Large indoor pool, lots of seating, clean. Rock climbing is a short wall but fun. Seems less popular in the summer- definitely a good place to go in winter.
