We signed up for what was advertised as a volleyball program. At the very first session, only my 11-year-old daughter showed up. In my opinion, the program should have been canceled or rescheduled, but it continued anyway. There was no volleyball net in the gym, and at the same time, there were very young children (kindergarten age) participating in the same space. There was only one coach and two balls, and the coach was clearly trying his best while splitting attention between completely different age groups. On another day, the gym was not available at all because it was being used for a theater rehearsal. As a result, my daughter had to be outside playing in the rain. Again, there were barely any kids. Some would come briefly, play a little, and then leave. Overall, there was no real coaching or structured training — my child was mostly just trying to keep the ball in play on her own. Sessions often started about 10 minutes late. This is not a sports program. It feels more like a loosely supervised “holding area” or one of several stations for kids from the after-school program, with no structure or clear purpose. I would not recommend signing up. It’s a waste of both time and money.

Beware - these people are scammers. I signed my daughter up for a summer camp that was advertised as being at St. John's in Glen Park (where we live). Literally the day after we signed up (and paid), we received an email from Legarza saying there was a location change to Stella Maris School. Since Stella Maris School is across town from us, we emailed Legarza to say unfortunately this would not work for us and we would like a refund for the camp. Legarza emailed back to say they would not issue a refund because we had not purchased their insurance / payment protection. Instead, we could only choose a different far away location or get a credit for another week. They also tried to claim they advertised the location as "tenative" - when that is absolutely not what their website said (we would not have booked the camp otherwise since, long story short, we only could book camp within walking distance of our home that week). Instead, only *after* paying for a spot, did their confirmation email state: "St. John School - San Francisco Pending Final Confirmation - We are confident we will offer this site during this week, however we have not yet received a final confirmation from the site. If registering we will secure your spot. If there is any issue we will likely find a similar location for this week, and our standard refund policy will apply." And, of course, their own email notifying us of the change said there was a "location change" and "We will be moving from St. John School to Stella Maris School." It's understandable when circumstances change, but it is absolutely unacceptable to try to force families to pay for something they did not purchase.

My kiddos have both loved Legarza camps (All-Sports and Basketball) over the past 6 years - we've been to summer camps, winter camps, school break camps - everything! The coaches create such a positive and energizing atmosphere that it keeps the players engaged and involved all throughout the day. Plus - and I know this is a small thing, but it's still awesome - the camp t-shirts are really good quality! :)

My kids have gone to Legarza camps for 5 years. They have always loved it - the enthusiasm from the coaches and the overall feel and energy of the camps. They are also VERY flexible if you want to come part of the week or part of the day or switch weeks and always want to help find the most economical way to buy the camps/sessions. My boys are aging out a bit now and both play AAU basketball but so glad they had this foundation!

We had an amazing experience at Legarza basketball camp! The coaches were incredibly attentive and genuinely cared about the kids. Both of my kids came home and could not stop talking about how much fun they had and asking to go back. My daughter was repeating the coaches chants and games after her first day, and came home smiling, tired, and eager to share what they learned. The drills were engaging, the games were fun, and we would highly recommend it to any family looking for a positive and fun basketball experience!
