If I could give negative star reviews I would. We were asked to leave just because my family was not white. Our family was playing volleyball and was asked to leave because no one was allowed on the park or field when there are kids. The messed up part is OUR HISPANIC family was the only one asked to leave and not the other TWO WHITE family's were not. This is unacceptable and I would never recommend to take your kids there and allow there to be teachers to set examples and allow them to teach our kids that racism is acceptable. I have reached out to the manager as this is NOT someone I would want to teach my kids!!

My two girls (12 and 7) were attending the Kirkland Boys and Girls Club (whose motto is "Be Positive") for Summer Camp. During the camp, one of the boys in the camp picked up a stick, covered it in dog mess, and waved it in a threatening manner at my older daughter. Not realizing that it was covered in mess and feeling threatened, my daughter grabbed at the stick to stop the boy from hitting her with it. At that point, the other boys in the group started laughing because she "touched dog poop". As you can imagine, she became very distraught and told a member of the staff who told her to clean up. In the mean time, the boys returned to play and spread the word of the "poop stick girl". When she returned the main antagonist was told to apologize, which he did, but in a way that left my daughter feeling he was not sincere. We spoke to the Director of the Boys and Girls club and asked that further action be taken to ensure that this individual was punished for his bullying behavior (as defined by the BGC guidebook). After giving her time to review the situation, she responded that they would take no further action and they felt it was dealt with. Both of my girls are now terrified of attending the Kirkland Boys and Girls Club and we've had to remove them and move them to other summer camps. We did receive a partial refund from the BGC for the other weeks of Summer Camp that they have not attended, but they declined to issue a full refund, stating that the prior weeks needed to be paid for as they "delivered care" during that time. We feel that other parents need to be aware of this situation and at least make a decision on how they would feel if confronted with this situation. The fact that the Club staff is so soft on bullying sent a clear message to the other kids that they can do whatever they want and only would need to say the words "I'm sorry". We have had remarkable experiences with the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club and we are really devastated that the Kirkland one would be so poorly managed.
