The most beautiful green mountains location and superb family running this camp 🏕️ My sons loved all three summers at Killooleet . A special place .

As a parent who never attended sleepaway camp, I was initially hesitant about sending my children away for the entire summer. However, my husband, who had spent summers at Camp Killooleet as a kid, convinced me to give it a try. From our first visit, I could immediately see why he loved it so much. Situated in a mountain valley in central Vermont, with an actual babbling brook and a secluded lake, Killooleet feels somehow separated from the rest of the world—an idyllic peaceful place that quickly won me over. When the time came to send our oldest to camp, she was understandably nervous- as was I! Would she be homesick? Would she miss us? Would she make friends? Would she have fun? Would she eat? Would she try new things? Would she have hard days? Would she have great days? The answer to all of those questions was yes. Yes to the good and to the not so good. However, what we quickly learned was that the challenges she faced were as valuable as the fun. She grew emotionally, learning to ask for help and embrace new experiences, and by the end of the summer, Killooleet had truly become her happy place. When our daughter faced personal struggles during her second summer, the support she received from the camp was beyond our expectations. Even from close to 300 miles away, I felt completely confident that she was in caring hands. The communication from the camp was excellent, and the counselors and directors went above and beyond to ensure she felt safe and supported through a tough time. Watching her come through this experience stronger, I knew (as my husband always had) that we had made the right choice. Now, with our younger daughter at Killooleet, I have no doubt she'll thrive too. The emotional support, attention, and care at Killooleet are unlike any other, and I’m incredibly grateful for the lasting impact it’s had on our children. It’s a truly magical place, and I’m excited for others to discover it.

There is no other place like camp Killooleet. It is a traditional summer camp, with a lot of outdoor activities and creative options, a gorgeous clear lake, and an emphasis on building community and fostering confidence and self-direction. Don’t forget the incomparably lovely folk music around the campfire or the main house. I still treasure the memories of my time there more than 40 years ago, and have watched my kids grow tremendously during their summers there.

Killooleet was one of the highlights of my childhood and my sister’s as well , and now my niece goes there! As far as I can tell, none of the amazing things that make Killooleet Killooleet have changed—music, freedom, a feeling of family, incredible natural beauty, decades of unique and wonderful traditions, and a fantastic variety of activities. Go to Killooleet!!!

Camp Killooleet means everything to me — its my second home, my biggest love, and my true family. Loved being a counselor there and I can only wish my kids will get to experience it one day.
