Powered by GoogleAfter several years as a member, I canceled due to repeated issues with trainer professionalism and lack of follow-up from leadership. A trainer, Robyn, moved my belongings off equipment I was actively using, then on a separate occasion asked me to move from another machine she wanted to use with a client. I reported both concerns, and the response I received from the supervisor, Vani, excused behavior that was inappropriate and unjustifiable. For an organization that publicly promotes equity, accountability, and respectful community spaces, my experience did not reflect those values. There was a clear lack of awareness from staff, which is especially concerning in a community facility that welcomes people from diverse backgrounds. I expected better respect, accountability, and basic gym etiquette.
Great staff but they need to focus on their teen guests more… there is no reason girls should be in the boys locker room and no reason boys should be in the girls locker rooms or smoking in them but they are and that’s why I will not be continuing my 3 day trial. Get it together Kent YMCA and do better.
Please, do not go there! The place is full of thieves, and the management never warns you about the risks. We lost my son’s brand-new clothes, backpack, and shoes—almost $500 worth of items. They never apologized and haven't contacted me since. Save yourself the trouble and stay away!!!! If you show them frustration the supervisors will only protect themselves. It was a worst experience ever!!!
Kent YMCA need update their website timely to reflect free public swimming schedule changing. It costed me a trip today to know that they do not offer such offer anymore on Saturdays. YMCA Kent, used many public resources, does not serve Kent residents well.
Great gym, though, I wish they had more free weight tools such as a deadlift holder to make it easier to load the heavy plates. A few free weight machines such as a lat pull down, 45-degree leg press and hack squat are also missing from this gym. Hopefully, they will find the space to get rid of some of the cardio machines and replace them with more free weight machines ;) The new hip thrust machine is fantastic and definitely saves a lot of time setting up to do hip thrusts. The kids' swimming pool gets crowded on weekends after 12 pm and on the weekday evenings in the summer. They're require wrist bands in order for the kids to get in to make sure it doesn't get too crowded, which can be an unsafe condition for the kids.
