Kaleidoscope Rock Academy, also known as Issaquah Rock School, runs week-long rock band camps in historic downtown Issaquah where kids form a real band, rehearse alternative rock, punk, indie and grunge songs from the last 30 years, and perform a show for family and friends on Friday. Camps run 9:00am-3:00pm Monday-Friday for ages 10-17 at a 1:3 or 1:4 counselor-to-student ratio, cost $550 per week with a 10% sibling discount, and may include field trips to Seattle-area music destinations. Instrumentalists need one to two years of playing experience; a separate Girls Rock Camp with female counselors and mentors is also offered.

Powered by GoogleMy son Ben attended the Alternative Rock Band Camp. It was an amazing experience! The staff was caring, professional and prepared. Music and charts were prepared along with MP3's in advance so student were ready and confident. This takes time and effort and demonstrates how much they value student success. My son showed marked improvement at the end and will now enter the Rock Essentials program. I can't thank the teachers Greg and Tori enough! The love of music is a wonderful gift! I would highly recommend this program to any one who wants to learn. They teach technique, are very organized and they know how to grow musicians. -Claire K
Issaquah Rock School and Kaleidoscope School of Music have been an awesome experience for our kids. This is the third year for our oldest son in a Rock Elite band and it has been really fun to watch him and the other band members grow as musicians each year. Charles works tirelessly to put all the intricate pieces of each band together and the outcome is really amazing to watch. It is also really inspiring to watch the high school bands with kids who have been together for 5+ years and have serious bands. Our youngest son is now getting involved with the Rock Essentials group and is loving it. It is an incredible opportunity for any kid who is into music and this program will take their skills and interest to the next level.
My daughter loves this school! Watching her grow and blossom into a performer right before our eyes is heart warming. We owe her confidence to hit the stage and "rock out" to the director Charles and his fantastic staff. They go above and beyond to make sure each student feels heard and appreciated. Charles and his staff work diligently to make sure the students have venues to perform at and work tirelessly to make sure each kids music is represented. Each student in each band has a voice and is heard and respected. Learning how to be in a performing rock band is much different than just playing songs and Charles and his staff teach both flawlessly. If you're looking for a place for your student to learn rock band performance as well as individual skills and techniques in a supportive environment you have found it! We feel blessed to have found a home grown school with such an expert staff.
My Daughter has been taking lessons from Charles for over a year now. We have seen amazing results in her ability to play guitar and sing. However, the best thing about this Issaquah school or Rock is we have seen our daughters confidence grow and come out of her shell. We also participate in the Rock Band and Rock Camp. They are excellent programs as well.
Both my daughter and I have thoroughly enjoyed our lessons at Issaquah Rock School. In addition to music lessons, my daughter is involved with Rock Elite. Charles provides a positive environment that encourages individual growth and band development. I have witnessed my daughter blossom as a very good musician. I may be one of the oldest students at 50 and I absolutely love learning to play the guitar from Charles! I have learned so much and he customizes the lessons just for me. Issaquah School of Rock is not just for the youth!
