PARENTS BEWARE - IMMATURE COACHING BEHAVIOR My 4 year old son is a great fan of soccer and an has actively participated in various programs in Just For Kicks over the last year. I must say that the previous coaches, coach Cam and coach Mckenzine were very caring and my son always looked forward to the classes. Today it was his first class (Micro 4-5) with coach TATE. I found my son was sitting on a bench and not playing. We felt strange and wife went near my son why he is not playing. My son started crying and told that the coach said to him "YOU ARE THE WORST PLAYER I HAVE EVER SEEN" and then punished with 5 minute timeout. My wife asked the coach why is my son sitting on the bench, coach said my son was disturbing the class and was given a 5 minute timeout. It was strange as we were continously keeping a eye on him and he was just playing happily and not misbehaving with anyone. We have enrolled him to multiple soccer classes with the same organization under coach Cam and coach coach Mckenzie and have never got this feedback. My wife then confronted coach Tate that why he said YOU ARE THE WORST PLAYER EVER SEEN" and he had no answer. We then talked to the coordinator who assured us that she will talk to the coach but no action was taken on him right away. Concerns: ‐-------------‐- 1. Is it right for a coach to say to a 5 year old that he is the WORST player? 2. The coach seemed to be a 15 - 16 year old guy, who did not seem to have high energy when coaching and does not know how to talk to kids. 3. Although we were assured that they will talk to the coach, no prompt action was taken right away. We therefore decided not to continue with Just for kicks any further and pulled him out of all the programs we had enrolled him ADVICE for the Just for Kicks ‐-‐---------‐------------------------------------ 1. No coach has the right to behave in this manner with little kids. It may break child's self confidence for life time. 2.Hire experienced coaches who know how to deal with kids. Although we were very angry with the behavior of coach Tate, we understand he is still a kid himself and can work towardsn improving his behavior and hope Just for Kids hires experienced coaches who treat kids with dignity and respect. Thanks Vineet
One of the best soccer complexes we have attended. Wish they had bigger field for older kids
Nice place to play ⚽️ field is well kept
A few weeks in with a 7yr old and 4yr old. Absolutely a better experience in terms of coaching and skill building and discipline over your typical park district kids soccer leagues. Great coaches and great experience so far! Highly recommend! 2022 Update: Kids are now 10 and 7, still enjoying going here during the colder months! Really helps build and reinforce skills that they then apply in their park district soccer during the warmer months.
