A little over a year ago, I was looking for a place to start taking tennis lessons. Rock Creek Park was the obvious choice for me since I lived in DC... but they didn't respond to countless emails or phone calls. I came across JTCC and was excited with how many indoor courts they had for winter time. I started out taking private lessons once a week... and a year later... I'm playing 4 times a week (a mix of group lessons, match play and a private lesson). The classes are challenging and engaging. The coaches are all incredibly friendly and I've met some really great people in classes. Excited for the upcoming facility expansion. I recommend JTCC to all my friends who are interested.

I had a very disappointing experience with the adult program here. The coaching quality was poor across the board. Group classes were overcrowded, which meant there was little to no individualized feedback. Instruction relied on generic cues without explaining why or how to execute shots, and there was no meaningful strategy, match play guidance, or correction. It felt more like supervised hitting than actual coaching. The drills themselves were especially frustrating; many were oddly designed, unnecessarily complicated, and arguably harder than playing real tennis. These same drills were used for beginners and intermediate players alike, which made the classes feel misaligned and ineffective for anyone trying to genuinely improve fundamentals or match readiness. Customer service was another major issue. Front desk communication was inconsistent and slow, scheduling private lessons was impossible (emailed 5-10 coaches and was either ignored or told they’re not available with zero alternatives), and basic follow-ups often went unanswered (one of which caused me to miss a session of their adult programming). For a facility of this caliber, the operational side is surprisingly weak. It’s also very clear where priorities lie: the youth program. Adult players feel like an afterthought, with most of the energy and resources focused on developing juniors. If you’re not a kid on a competitive track, don’t expect much attention or investment. They’re only focused on producing the next Tiafoe, not actually making tennis available for all. Overall, I would not recommend this facility for adult players, beginners to advanced, who are looking for thoughtful instruction, clear communication, and value for their time and money.

Awful experience! Teachers are arrogant and don’t care about kids’ progress. In fact, my 2 children stopped going to group lessons 2 months ago and no one, including the 2 instructors, reached out to find out why. We grew dissatisfied with the quality of the lessons. The 2 instructors had a plan but barely worked with the kids to ensure proper technique development. They only demonstrated the skills and observed the kids try their best. The fact that there were 12 kids for 2 coached didn’t help but is not an excuse. We then started exploring private lessons; first, with one of the 2 instructors. She accepted to work with the kids before the group lessons. After only one lesson, she started canceling lessons or asking to schedule at different times… I asked front desk how I could find the availability of coaches on specific days and times so I could contact those who have openings for the times that work for me but they don’t know the coaches’ schedules. So, I would have to individually reach out to each and ask for their availability… you would think a place that coordinate lessons would have such a basic functionality… Being from Africa, I walked into one of the Togolese coaches when he was free and he gave me his number to discuss about lessons. I sent a text and a follow up; when he eventually responded, it was to tell me that he is too busy and can’t. He offered no suggestion, no recommendation… from a fellow African, this was even more disheartening. I wouldn’t waste my time driving from Bethesda for low quality lessons. So, we stopped attending and didn’t even ask for a refund!

Love playing tennis here! Great venue for wheelchair tennis tournament championships. The staff is friendly and the facilities are clean and wheelchair accessible. The indoor and outdoor courts have been around a long time, but are well maintained. There was some construction going on during my recent visit, so some of the sidewalks were challenging to maneuver. Parking can be difficult when there are a lot of disabled tennis players visiting the facility. It's good to arrive early to get parking.
