The Martin Luther King Jr. (King) Recreation Center runs a free day-camp-style summer youth program at Jackson's Howard Woods complex, with daily planned activities, field trips, and sports and educational camps, plus free breakfast and lunch from Jackson Public Schools. The city-run center also offers after-school programming during the school year.

Don't be discouraged by old stigmas of the area. They have tons of staff and cameras. I've never once had an issue. Wish they had something like this when I was a kid. Donations also help.
