iCode Bellevue is a local campus of the national iCode STEM-education franchise, offering one-week summer camps for children in coding, robotics, drones, game design and AI. He thrives in a somewhat structured environment with reasonable independence, where he feels respected and cared for. I was hesitant about whether a coding class would be a good fit for him. It turned out it was thanks to icode's child friendly atmosphere, clear communication and wonderful teachers. Most teachers are young with experience of working with children. They are able to keep the students engaged and they have an abundance of patience. There was one older female teacher that seemed to lack a bit of patience and showed more interest in talking than to listen or adjust to the children. But it was that one teacher. The classroom (although a bit cramped) is modern and light filled. The check-in and check-out process is smooth. My son really enjoyed himself and this class sparked a further interest in coding for him. Bonus: they have fun snacks & their summer camps are great.
