Highland Recreation Complex is a City of Largo recreation center that runs the Cool Kids Summer Camp for children who have completed kindergarten through 6th grade, Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm with after-care to 6:00pm. The full-day camp includes off-site field trips, swimming at the on-site aquatic center, guest presenters, sports, and arts, with a separate basketball skills camp for ages 6-13. The complex also houses a 3-story indoor playground, courts, and a fitness center.

As difficult as it was the first time I tried the class, I stuck with it, have shown tremendous improvement and went from taking it once a week to twice a week. The instructor, Lynne is knowledgeable, fun, relentless in what she has us do, interesting, and well worth all the pain I have inflicted on my body trying to keep up with her. 🙄😂. The variety of exercises we do every day, and the upbeat, peppy, motivational music she plays, make the almost 1 hour class speed by. I am a snowbird, but I am very much looking forward to coming back to the class next year.

They also have an outdoor play area that is very cool and unique in design. You could say its out of this world 🌎. Everything from the bathrooms to the weight room, inside track, classrooms and gym are very clean. It also has an outdoor walking track around a lake, outdoor fitness equipment, outdoor basketball courts and a pool. The membership fees are also incredible low.

The asphalt trails circle the lake where you can find lots of waterfowl such as rosette spoonbill, mallard ducks , swamp hens and even turtles!! 75% shade depending on the time of day.
